The Adventure Charity Abseil will take place on Sunday 28th April, down the 13-storey, 51-metre Europa Hotel.

This is an exciting event aimed at those who seek thrill and adventure to escape the routine of everyday life, while raising money for a great cause. The aim of The Northern Ireland’s Children to Lapland and Days to Remember Trust is to fulfil the dreams of terminally ill, life limited and deserving children, by taking them on a trip of a lifetime to see Santa at his home in Lapland and other destinations.

On our trips the joy experienced by the children, many of whom bravely endure great suffering in their daily lives, was pure magic.

We would kindly ask each abseiler to try to raise a minimum of £100 through sponsorship. We cover all of the necessary insurance. (please bring any sponsorship money you have with you on the day).

On the day of the abseil we meet in the lobby of the hotel.
Closer to the time we will advise you of your registration time.

Once you arrive you will get registered, then you will watch a safety and instructional video. Following this , you will be taken to get the harness and helmets and gloves fitted. Once you are fully kitted out, you will be taken up to the roof by a BAC staff.

The time between registration and actual abseil can depend on many factors, but usually you would be abseiling between 45 minutes and an hour after arrival.

Maximum weight – 18 stone.

Minimum age – 14 years old.

On The Day

BRING WITH YOU:

Medical Form – FULLY completed and signed. We will have spare medical forms on site if you are unable to print yourself a copy.

Any sponsorship money you may have.

If you use an inhaler or require any medication please bring it with you. Abseilers are requested not to take alcohol or any drugs which might impair their ability to abseil prior to the event. The safety officer may refuse to allow any individual to abseil and is not required to give reasons.

Once registered you may not leave the designated area – if you do so you may lose your abseil space.

WHAT TO WEAR:

Footwear: Hiking boots or trainers – absolutely no heels or open toe sandals.

Clothing: Wear comfortable clothing (not tight), tuck in shirts etc. and remove any bulky jackets, pockets must be empty or zipped closed and any sharp or bulky items removed.

Other: Remove all jewellery and tie hair back.

MOBILE PHONES MUST NOT BE BROUGHT UP TO THE ROOF PLEASE LEAVE THESE WITH A FRIEND OR FAMILY MEMBER, FAILING THAT YOU MAY LEAVE YOUR PHONE IN THE KITTING OUT AREA AT YOUR OWN RISK.

NON-ABSEILERS:
Unfortunately only abseilers will be allowed entrance to the hotel all non-abseilers are able to watch the abseiling take place from across the road.

PHOTOGRAPHY:
An official photographer is available and will provide a 5 x 7 print which will be available for you to take home after your abseil, courtesy of NICLT.
